Journey to self-care

"From the beginning"

I started to sit back and remember watching my Mom come up with her own skincare remedies  as a child thinking to myself, "What the heck is she doing?" She was always making her own face masks out of oatmeal and sometimes egg yolk. She would say that it tightens and replenishes  the skin. Her skin was always flawless. She was into the holistic things like meditation, yoga, skin care routines, those sorts of things. As a child, I had no idea of what any of those things meant or what purpose it served. But as I got older and started going through my own life trials, like working two jobs,  having relationships, and having a child to take care of, I started to understand the importance of self-care.

It all started back in 2020 in the middle of a pandemic. It was the first time that I realized that it was time to start my own business in skincare and aromatherapy. While starting the process, I also started in my own personal journey to self-care. Yeah, I'm still working on staying consistent because life be life-ing sometimes by getting in the way of things but I'm still sticking to the process. I began to look up different minerals and oils by doing research on them and how they benefit the skin. I wanted to be unique as possible. You know, thinking outside of the box. I wanted to come up with different scents and different names for my products. Something Catchy!!! So I started experimenting and testing out my products with my customers and asking them for true and honest feed back. In the mist of creating a business while working full time and taking care of my son, I still needed to make time for self-care. And what better way to do that than to use my own products!! So I started lighting my own candles, soaking in my own bath salts, showering with my own natural made soaps, and using my own sugar scrubs. I was surprised with my own results, but it was important to hear feedback from others so that I may cater to them on a higher scale by rejuvenating the skin cells all while bringing comfort to them.

Now back to self-care. I am learning that self-care is not just about working on the outer appearance. Self-care is also internal. A state of mind. A way of being. It is truly a lifestyle. And it is a consistent one. So on that note, I ask you all to join me on this journey to self-care and comfort. We are all in this together. Men and women!! We are all in this together.
